Following a European call for tenders, the airline easyJet was chosen by the Joint Airport Union to provide the public service air link between La Rochelle and Lyon for a period of 4 years, from December 11, 2023 to 31 October 2027.
easyJet had already been operating this route, with a direct flight, since April 17, 2023, following an emergency procedure which had been implemented following the early and unexpected termination by the previous airline Chalair which had been providing this public service air link since November 2019 .
From December 11, 2023, easyJet will operate this route with 2 rotations per week, every Monday morning and Friday afternoon, as well as Wednesdays during french school holidays.
The flights will be operated, as a direct flight, using an Airbus A319, with a capacity of 156 seats, with the possibility of upgrading to an A320 (180 seats on average). The price range offered makes it possible to address a wide audience: business trips, “leisure” customers and affinity/family trips.
