Reflecting its gradual post-pandemic recovery and its upcoming summer season –capacity will reach 85% of pre-pandemic levels–, Iberia is taking delivery of new aircraft at an accelerating pace.
“Volando” name of a song
Iberia’s third A350 to be incorporated, registered as EC-NMZ, is named like the popular song: “Volando”, which was used in an Iberia promotional campaign on the occasion of the delivery of its first A350 in 2018, is the last to use the current configuration. The eight additional A350s pending delivery will be delivered by 2024 and will feature changes and improvements in Business, Premium Economy, and Economy cabins.
Another Eight Airbus A321XLRs
The first of an order of eight narrow-body, long-range A321XLRs, placed by IAG on Iberia’s behalf in 2019, is to be delivered in 2023. It will add capacity, particularly to the airline’s key transatlantic routes.
These deliveries lift the Iberia Group fleet to a total of 147 aircraft, of which Iberia operates 77 (A350s, A330s, and A320s), Iberia Express operates 20 (A320s), and Iberia Regional Air Nostrum operates 45 (CRJ1000s, CRJ900s, CRJ200s, and ATR72s).
